Jazz Harp Academy Recap Day and Beginners Workshops 

 

Recap Day 

 

At the request of former Academy participants, we planned a Jazz Harp Academy Recap Day on Sunday, August 24, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands 

 

For Intensive Course participants of the Jazz Harp Academy 2010, 2011 and 2013. Academy teacher, saxophone player and band leader Kurt Schwab will be there to help you practise and enhance your jazz harp skills and inspire all. 

 

13.30 - 14.45 hands-on recap of the course contents 

15.15 - 16.30 combo lesson with session musicians 

17.00 - 18.30 informal jam and get together 

 

You're not a former Academy participant, but you do have jazz harp experience? Check in with us at info@jazzharp.org to see if you can join somehow.

Beginners workshops 

 

On the same day, beginning jazz harpists can attend one or more workshops on the basics of jazz, blues and improvisation at Harp Studio Rotterdam, taught by Brenda Dor-Groot and Sabine Meijers. Afterwards, you can attend the informal jam of the Academy Recap Day, and the company of fellow jazz harp enthusiasts. 

 

11.00 Jazz & Blues Demystified - basic theory with hands on the harp to get you up and running, ehh... swinging 

 

13.30 Harping from Lead Sheets - about interpreting the melody and adding bass lines and harmony 

 

15.30 Jazz & Blues Take Home Tunes - a few tunes tackled together, a good start of your jazz harp repertoire
