biography
Monika
Stadler began studying the harp at age 13 at the Bruckner-Conservatory
in Linz, Austria. From 1982 till 1990 she studied concert harp
performance at the University of Music & Performing Arts
in Vienna under Professor Adelheid Blovsky-Miller.
She was a member of the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, played with
the Vienna National Opera Orchestra and at the Carinthian Summer
Festival.
In 1990 she finished her studies at the University with the
highest honors and received a scholarship to study jazz harp
in 1991/92.
Additional scholarships from the Austrian government followed
which allowed her to study with jazz harpist Deborah Henson-Conant,
jazz bassist David Clark (Berklee College of Music, Boston)
and free improvisational music with David Darling in the USA.
1989 Selected to perform as a Rising Generation Talent at the
3rd World Harp Congress in Vienna and at Vienna's most prestigious
music hall, the Vienna Music Verein.
1992 1st Prize at the talent show in Velden, Austria.
1993 2nd Prize winner at the LYON & HEALY International
Jazz and Pop Harp FESTIVAL in Chicago, Illinois.
1994 2nd prize winner at the Jazz Harp Festival in Orlando,
Florida.
1996 Solo performance at the 6th World Harp Congress in Seattle,
Washington.
1997 Showcase performance at the LYON & HEALY International
Jazz and Pop Harp FESTIVAL in Pacific Grove, California.
1998 Duo performance at the 4th European Harp Symposium in Perugia,
Italy
Performances due to an invitation by the American Harp Society
in Minnesota, Florida, Massachussetts,USA
1999 Solo Performance at the 7th World Harp Congress in Prague,
Czech Republic
Honorary Performance United Kingdom Harp Association in London,
England
2001 Featured artist at the 2nd International Harp Therapy Conference
in Richmond, Virginia, USA
