CONCERTS
Deborah Henson-Conant
with special guest Olga Shishkina playing the electric Kantele

On Friday night, Deborah Henson-Conant, the American 'First Lady of the Electric Harp', is expected to awe and entertain the crowds in the beautiful Aalmarktzaal. Deborah is a true performance phenomenon, jazz & blues harpist, singer-songwriter, story teller, composer and one-woman orchestra.
Deborah will rock, groove and swing both as a soloist and together with the Red Limo String Quartet (well known from Kyteman's HipHop Orchestra). You can help us make this evening unforgettable by donating to and help further our upcoming crowdfunding campaign (kick-off September 1 - keep an eye out on Facebook and Twitter!).
The Jazz Harp Festival is also proud to present Olga Shishkina as a special guest to Deborah Henons-Conant's show, in collaboration with Koistinen Kantele.
Olga is a very talented and internationally upcoming Russian player of the electric Finnish kantele, another member of the family of plucked instruments, having undergone a technical development in recent years similar to that of the harp.

An exciting and for sure very inspiring concert!

Maeve Gilchrist & Rossitza Milevska
Maeve Gilchrist is a superb singer-songwriter and folk harp player with Scottish roots, currently living in Boston, USA. She was raised in a true folk music environment and schooled as a professional harp player and a jazz singer. She has recently become part of the world-class faculty of Berklee College of Music, the famous contemporary music institute. Expect an exquisite mixture of jazz and Scottish folk music.
Rossitza Milevska will present a set of true jazz on the electroacoustic pedal harp. Her thorough classical harp training and jazz piano education are topped off by a most spontaneous and funky-edged way of playing and performing. Born in Bulgary, she nowadays lives in the south of France, where her trio has recently been the winner of various important jazz awards.

The 'Harpbreakers', led by Deborah Henson-Conant and formed especially for this occassion, will open this Sunday afternoon concert.
